The DePaul Career Center’s Teacher’s Forum offers new teachers the opportunity to gain critical skills and resources and network with principals and professionals in education. Specifically, this event will provide opportunities to:
- Gain insight from a veteran educator and author, keynote speaker Gregory Michie
- Participate in roundtable discussions led by administrators and educators
- Practice interviews with principals (Note: space is limited and additional registration process is required)
- Network with fellow DePaul educator alumni about experiences
This one day event is open to DePaul School of Education students who will or have completed their student teaching experience and education alumni who will be looking forward to their first year of teaching.

Mock Interview Registration — Limited Space!
This additional registration is important to acknowledge your interest and commitment to attending the mock interview. The participating principals are dedicated to providing an opportunity to assist you in improving your interview skills and in turn we ask that you honor this commitment, come early to the event, and prepare by reviewing interview questions and dressing appropriately.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a current DePaul Education Student
- Must have submitted all student teaching information on Edtrack
- Submit current resume
- Submit one paragraph regarding how this mock interview would be helpful to you
- Must commit to attending full event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

- Register first through DePaul.Experience as noted above. After your pre-registration on DePaul.Experience , please email your resume and one paragraph on regarding how this mock interview would be helpful to you to Gina Anselmo, Assistant Director, Career Advisor.
- You will receive a confirmation e-mail securing your mock interview spot
- You will also receive a preparation e-mail reminding you of interview questions to prepare and the time to be at the event
Keynote Speaker: Gregory Michie
Gregory Michie is an associate professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Illinois State University (ISU),
where he works with student teachers in a year-long internship program in Chicago public
schools. He taught for nine years in Chicago, where he developed a media
literacy course and a video-production program for middle school
students. In 1996 he received the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in
Teaching, which is given annually to ten outstanding teachers in the
greater Chicago area. For the past eight years he has worked as a
teacher educator, preparing undergraduates and career-changers for work
in urban classrooms. He has published numerous essays and articles about
his work with children, and is the author of See You When We Get There:
Teaching for Change in Urban Schools (Teachers College Press, 2005), and
co-editor of City Kids, City Schools: More Reports from the Front Row
(The New Press, 2008).
His latest book, a 10th anniversary edition of Holler If You Hear Me:
The Education of a Teacher and His Students, is the story of his
teaching experiences in Chicago public schools.
