Job Search Resources & Vacancies

There are many sources for locating teaching vacancies, but no one place will ever list all existing vacancies. The Internet is a rich source for teaching vacancies, but there are still schools/districts that do not use electronic means for recruiting teachers.

Some schools/districts have no need to post vacancies at all; they can collect a good candidate pool simply by opening their mail. For that reason, it's important that you respond to posted vacancies and mail letters of inquiry and resumes to all schools/districts in which you would like to work.

For suburban districts, mail these to the district office. If they have a personnel director, mail to that person; if not, mail to the superintendent. You may want to mail to individual school principals or department heads also. For Chicago Public Schools, mail or hand deliver your letter/resume directly to the principal.
