Changing Your Career

Deciding to make a career change can be a challenging decision for students and alumni. To explore career options and prepare for a smooth transition, you should:

  1. Conduct research on making a career change. Useful books and resources are listed under Career Resources and Information.
  2. Attend the Managing Career Transitions Workshop.
  3. Consider attending other Career Center workshops that might assist you in the process of making a career change including, Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Explorer, Work Values and Skills and Accomplishments.
  4. Attend the Career Changers Forum held each year by the Career Center. This half-day forum is designed to guide students and alumni contemplating a career change or those already in the midst of a transition in their professional lives.
  5. Meet with a Career Advisor who specializes in working with students and alumni contemplating career changes.
