Meet the PCAPs
Jonathan Chow
Hi everybody! My name is Jon and I am a third year undergraduate in the college of LA&S, studying Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology and minoring in Business Management. In the short, but fulfilling, two years I have been here at DePaul, and throughout my years in High School, I was fortunate enough to have wonderful career and academic advisors. How each of them has helped me throughout my studies and career path has motivated me to want to help my fellow peers in the same manner. I was able to mentor students by being a Chicago Quarter Mentor my second year at DePaul, and Freshman Mentor/P.E. Leader in High School. Now I want to further help students, and found being a Peer Career Advisor a great way to do just that. Come visit me and bring your career or other related questions, and we can both improve professionally plus build a great advising relationship where you can hopefully experience the same awesome advising I was lucky to receive (if you have not already :-D).
Marianne Dergham
Hello everyone! My name is Marianne Dergham and this is my first year as a Peer Career Advisor! I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to this fantastic city 3 years ago to attend DePaul University. I am currently a senior majoring in International Relations (concentration in Middle Eastern Studies) and Psychology (concentration in Human Services) and minoring in Spanish. During my time at DePaul, I have been a Chicago Quarter Mentor, worked in the School of Education, and am now a Peer Career Advisor and a STARS Peer Mentor. My other interests include traveling abroad, reading, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family.
I took this position because of my interest in helping students achieve their goals. The Career Center is a great place to receive resume and career advice, learn about the different resources available to you, and generally feel confident about your future plans and goals. Feel free to stop by and meet with a Peer Career Advisor! Hope to see you all soon :-D
Dominique Hollins
Hello Everyone! My name is Dominique Hollins and I am a recent transfer to DePaul University with more than three years of experience in career advising. As an Undergrad in Finance with an interest in becoming a French minor, I chose this position to help students like myself; I am currently searching to identify my career path, but in the meantime, I enjoy helping others. When I’m not hitting the books or helping fellow peers, I enjoy good movies, great music, and people who like to have fun. My goal is to utilize my energetic personality constructively in order to help students find their personal and professional niche. As the Career Center has proven to be a wealth of knowledge, I welcome anyone to stop by and give it a try! What better way to spend your time than by self–discovery?
Katie VanKampen
Hi Everyone! My name is Katie and I am so excited to be a Peer Career Advisor this year. I am a Senior at DePaul and I am double majoring in Psychology (with a concentration in Human Services) and Sociology (with a concentration in Law and Society). I chose DePaul because I absolutely love Chicago and everything that comes with it. I grew up in a small town in Michigan and could not wait to see what the big city had to offer me. I am a member of many organizations on campus including Alpha Phi, Colleges Against Cancer, and Student Government. I keep myself pretty busy and wouldn't have it any other way. I am excited to be working with the Career Center and look forward to assisting students in any way that I can. Come in with any questions and I would be more then happy to help you. Hope to see many of you soon!
Random Fact — You will rarely see me without a cup of coffee in my hand!
Alexa Smith
Hello everyone! I am a graduate student in the College of Computing and Digital Media. I graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Psychology. My passion for technology has led me to my current career path, and I hope to combine my technical skills with my psychology experience to create user–friendly web design. I hope that as a Peer Career Advisor I can help students recognize their strengths, and encourage exploration of their interests in finding their unique career path. In my free time, I love to draw, jog, play video games, travel, volunteer, and study the Russian language. I am very excited to be at DePaul and to have the opportunity to help others utilize the Career Center’s vast resources. I hope to see you at the Career Center soon!
