Meet with a Career Advisor

Career Advisors can assist you with choosing a major, deciding whether to attend graduate school, developing your resume, preparing for the interviewing process, negotiating a compensation package and making a career change. If you are just starting to plan your career or develop your resume, or have some questions about how to best use the Career Center's services, walk-in to one of our locations and visit a Peer Career Advisor.

Each Career Advisor specializes in a particular college and can assist you with applying your major to a career path and identifying career trends in your particular field. To schedule a one-on-one or telephone appointment, please contact the Career Center at (312) 362-8437 (Loop) or (773) 325-7431 (Lincoln Park).

For Electronic Advising, send an e-mail to the Career Advisor who specializes in your major or field, including your full name and e-mail address with your career-related question. You should receive a response within three business days.

Peer Career Advisors

Peer Career Advising is a good place for students and alumni to begin the process of career planning. The Peer Career Advisors are undergraduate and graduate students who have been carefully selected and trained by the Career Center to work with students and alumni in an advisory capacity. A Peer Career Advisor can provide:

  • An overview of Career Center services
  • Help with the Recruiting online system to participate in Career Center services such as workshops, on-campus recruiting, job listings, online resume books and searching for mentors
  • Assistance with finding on campus employment
  • Resume and job search correspondence critiques
  • Interviewing tips
  • General guidance with job search strategies
  • Graduate school search and application tips

You may talk with a Peer Career Advisor as often as you want. Peers can be a great resource even for the most experienced students and alumni, because they know what Career Center services are available and can give you pointers on how to best maximize those services.

Peer Career Advisors can be reached by phone at (312) 362-5415 or by email at peercareeradvisor@depaul.edu or in the Loop or Lincoln Park Career Center offices during walk–in hours.
