Learn about different resume formats and how to best market your accomplishments for specific audiences. This workshop is ideal for someone who has already written a resume and is looking to enhance or change the content or structure. Please bring a draft of your resume to the workshop.

Discover Your Leadership Style with the FIRO–B

This workshop is ideal for students with work experience, alumni and career changers. The Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation–Behavior™ (FIRO–B©) is a personality assessment that identifies needs/wants regarding your interpersonal work style. Results from this assessment will help you gain additional insight about your leadership approach to help you work more strategically.

How to Build a Portfolio

A professional portfolio provides you with a tremendous resource for showcasing your work skills and experiences to an employer. A portfolio can serve as a complement to your application and job search process. Portfolios can be physical or virtual (online), and are utilized by many different majors and occupations. At this workshop, you’ll learn how to conceptualize and compile an effective portfolio. You’ll be introduced to basic components and receive guidance on popular methods for organizing a portfolio.

How to Find an Internship

This workshop will help you prepare for an internship search by sharing successful search strategies. You will also learn about the University Internship Program (short–term internships) as well as the Cooperative Education Program (long–term Internships). Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

Looking for work that is intrinsically interesting and gratifying to you? The MBTI is used to assist individuals in identifying their personality strengths, preferred work environments, communication styles and career possibilities. While few occupations provide a "perfect" match between personality and work tasks, this indicator and workshop will assist you in making an informed decision. During the MBTI workshop you will complete a questionnaire and receive feedback, including a list of career fields toward which people with your MBTI type tend to gravitate.

Skills and Accomplishments

Skills are the currency of the job market; you get a paycheck in exchange for the skills you use in your job. People who can describe their abilities and accomplishments to potential employers effectively are likely to find fulfilling work that allows them to utilize the skills they most enjoy using. Through this workshop, you’ll assess your skills, determine which ones you want to acquire or further develop, and identify ways to do so. Also, you’ll learn how to clearly articulate your skill set and provide solid examples of those skills in practice.

Strong Interest Explorer

This workshop is ideal for students who are undecided about a college major and/or for those considering exploring new career directions. Research shows a strong correlation between interests and job satisfaction. Insight into your interests can help you find work that is satisfying to you. In this workshop, you will take an inventory that measures your level of interest in broad categories and helps you see how your interests relate to different occupational fields and college majors.

Your work values play a very important role in determining what kind of work you find fulfilling. This workshop will help you increase your understanding of how work values motivate you, influence your career decisions, and impact your job satisfaction. Through this workshop, you’ll assess and prioritize your most important work values and discover how to use what you’ve learned about your work values to help guide your career decisions.

Cooperative Education Orientation

Cooperative Education (co–op) is an exciting new program at DePaul that allows undergraduate students to gain high–level, real–world experience, and also earn income year–round. Co–op positions with major employers are part–time, typically lasting one or more years in duration. The orientations are open to all undergraduate freshman, sophomores, and juniors in Commerce, LA&S & CTI.

At this orientation, you will hear many of the benefits of co–op, including its inclination to often lead to full time employment after graduation. Learn how the co–op program operates, and understand the eligibility requirements. Current part–time co–op positions with major employers will be highlighted. To be considered for any current or future co–op positions, you must attend one of these sessions.

The OCI orientation is a prerequisite to participating in OCI. The orientation will make you aware of the policies for participation in the OCI Program and provide tips for successful interviewing.

On–Campus Interviewing Orientation “Super Sessions”

OCI Super Sessions include the mandatory OCI Orientation information and will feature an actual campus recruiter from one of the employers hiring DePaul University students and graduates. The recruiter will highlight the do's and don'ts of on–campus interviewing and provide tips on how students can effectively market themselves throughout the interview process. Please note the super sessions will be one hour in length.
